Customize the article URL by entering a custom slug
For SEO purpose, it's often useful to provide the content essence in the URL of your article.
Default | https://blog.helpspace.com/article/1/article-title |
With Custom Slug | https://blog.helpspace.com/my-custom-slug |
Note: If you create a custom slug, the default URL will be redirected immediately with a 301
redirect status.
Edit or create an article, and you will find this box on the right sidebar.
Enter your custom slug and save.
Redirect existing URLs
If you are migrating a domain to our service, you may have some existing links, that should be redirected to a specific article.
Edit or create an article, and you will find this box on the right sidebar.
Click the edit icon.
Enter all URL paths you want to redirect the main article URL.
Changing / removing a custom slugs
If you are changing or removing a custom slug of a published article, it can be smart to add the old custom slug as an alias, to prevent 404
error messages.
Removing a redirect alias
If you remove a redirect alias, this link will lead to a 404 error message.
Please note that browsers are caching redirects
If you are playing around with this feature it may feel buggy at some point, but we simply can't delete the redirect cache of your browser.
